Criminal Records Bureau verification service launched

UK-Entertainers is pleased to announce the launch of the new CRB validation service for all advertisers.

The site now gives an at-a-glance view of all companies who’ve submitted evidence of a Criminal Records Bureau or Disclosure Scotland check. This information has been put in place to assist visitors in making an informed decision about the children’s entertainer they book.

All paying advertisers have the ability to upload their evidence of a CRB check, free-of-charge. Non-paying advertisers can also submit their details on payment of a small administration / handling fee.

Will my CRB certificate be visible on the site?
No. The document is reviewed by UK-Entertainers but not made visible on the site.

Will I have to re-submit my CRB information every year?
At present, this are no guidelines or legislation that defines how frequently a CRB or Disclosure Scotland certificate should be renewed. We have therefore taken the decision (at present) to accept certificates up to 24 months old. Advertisers will be encouraged to renew their CRB check at least every 2 years.

Why do I have to pay to upload my CRB certificate?
The uploading of a CRB certificate is free to all paying advertisers. Non-paying advertisers must either upgrade their account (£23.50 for Silver membership) or post a copy of their certificate along with a payment of £11.75. The charges cover our handling and processing fees.

I’m a paying advertiser. Why do I have to pay £11.75 to post you my CRB details?
This service has been designed to be as cost efficient as possible and relies on the information being uploaded to our web server where it can be quickly reviewed and processed. This small charge helps cover the additional work required to review and process postal submissions. NOTE: This option includes 20 FREE SMS credits.

Will you be offering a similar service for other certificates (i.e. Public Liability Insurance)?
Yes, this service will be launched in the next few weeks.

I haven’t had a CRB check – how do I get one?
In England, vetting for self-employed individuals is carried out by umbrella companies, affiliated with the Criminal Records Bureau. Details are available at http://www.crb.gov.uk.

In Scotland, vetting is carried out by Disclosure Scotland. Details are available at http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
